2018 Dominion High School Parking Lot Revision: A Proposal

For the safety of the Dominion High School and Seneca Ridge Middle School community,

Maddie Bates and Emily Wong, students of the class of 2018, propose an idea to renovate the current Dominion High School parking lot in order to promote a safer and more efficient driving environment for students, teachers, and parents.

Currently, the parking lot design leads to traffic congestion and threatens the safety of drivers and walkers entering and exiting the school. The design only allows for one entrance and exit to the school.

The proposed solution is to add two more lanes in order to create two entrance and two exit lanes. We propose to add these lanes into the teacher parking lot due to the vacancy of the right side of the parking lot. The addition of two lanes will allow for greater efficiency, less traffic congestion, and an improvement in safety conditions leading to a reduction in potential accidents involving both vehicles and pedestrians. Another addition that would strongly benefit the community would be a stoplight, allowing for more regulation to the parking lot's traffic flow.

Many other schools have introduced a new parking lot system that allows students, teachers, and parents to remain safe when traveling to and from school.

Please support our proposal to help make the Dominion and Seneca Ridge community a safer place through the renovation of Dominion's parking lot.

* Additional details and updates will be added later on.
