Bring drum corps back to LCPS

Just recently, Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia has sent out information saying that schools will no longer be able to host drum corps overnight or allow them to hook up to the school’s water or electricity. As far as I know, this decision was arrived at summarily with not even any discussion with the schools head of the music department. We were not given any rationale for the decision.
Because of this, many band students in the Loudoun County area are loosing a valuable education opportunity. I believe this is an injustice and deprives our students and many, many people locally and across several states the opportunity to watch these corps free of charge.
The Blue Devils, who have rehearsed at Woodgrove High School in the past, will not be able to stay there because of this change. It is nearly impossible to find housing and a rehearsal venue for 150 students and 100 support staff three weeks before arrival during a competition season. This would be the fifth time Woodgrove will have hosted a World Class Drum Corps for an overnight stay over the past 5 years and the fourth time they’d be hosting the Blue Devils.
Please sign this petition if you believe that LCPS should allow for this educational opportunity for students in its facilities as well as provide a welcoming environment for members of the corps who work for 12+ hours each day!
