Giant well-funded developers are seeking a variance (aka an exception) from the City of Charleston to DESTROY SIXTEEN GRAND TREES, and ENDANGER THREE ADDITIONAL GRAND TREES (excavating right at the base of their mighty trunk) on Daniel Island. The law clearly prohibits this, but they are pushing hard and have deep pockets to issue appeals and even do the work covertly.

We have witnessed this in the past year at an exaggerated and accelerated pace. It is literally destroying Daniel Island's climate, culture, beauty, wildlife, and even property value. As residents and neighbors, we are custodians of this precious home to us and our Grand Trees sentinels. Please join me in standing strong for our mighty oaks. They are Giving Trees and should not make the ultimate sacrifice for selfish, short-sighted, greedy developers. Thank you very very much. We will send this petition to the City of Charleston!
