Stop speculative developers blighting communities up and down the country

Paul Turner started this petition to Eric Pickles (Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government) and

I have become aware, through two local (Corsham, Wilts) proposed speculative developments on greenfield sites close to a conservation area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), that speculative development, by companies or organisations taking advantage of loopholes in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), is happening up and down the country. Indeed, the Duchy of Lancaster is planning to develop 700 acres of green belt land near Crewe, Cheshire despite strong objections from local villagers, local district councils and the local MP. Here in Corsham, there is a multitude of former Ministry of Defence brownfield sites which could satisfy housing demand and have been granted planning permission (which has stalled) whilst speculative developers, through NPPF loopholes, propose to blight our community with greenfield development.
