Ban violence against animals!

Ban violence against animals!

The Issue

Social media can often times be used as a platform to empower and advocate for a cause, but recently people have uploaded videos and explicit images just to share the issue, without providing resources or information on how they can help eliminate the problem.

This is very important because so many animals around the world are being abused, tortured, skinned alive, boiled, experimented on, or used for illegal testing or sometimes legal but inhumane medical practices which are unnecessary. These animal should rather be protected and cared for as they are vital to our ecosystem and biodiversity. Many people may argue its the humane thing to do, as we realize that they have feelings too and should not be subjected to torture and pain.

An example of this controversial topic is and event in Yulin, Guangxi, China, is called the "Lychee and Dog Meat Festival" this festival began in 2009 and spans about 10 days. From June 21 to June 30 is the day that this event takes place. As this event is coming up really closely, I wish to start to petition to push non-profits and animal protection organizations to challenge and pressure people in postponing/ canceling the event.  This is more than just a dog meat festival, its a symbol of torture and inhumane treatment to wildlife that we should be protecting.
