As a resident of Lakeland, Florida, I am deeply invested in the aesthetic and spirit of our community. One area that has particularly caught my attention is the large, open space in the center of Munn Park.

When walking through Munn Park during the winter holiday season, one will encounter a dazzling display of lights. Toy soldiers, candy canes, and an animated jack-in-the-box are all part of the wonderful display curated by the city. The same city, however, has neglected to put a tree in the most obvious place for a tree: the center of the park. The center of Munn Park remains gray, bland, and unsightly during our winter holiday season, a time when joy and beauty should be at their peak. 

Munn Park is at the heart of our city and serves as a gathering place for many community events. Munn Park is an integral part of Lakeland's identity, but lacks a holiday tree during the winter holiday season. The addition of a holiday tree would not only enhance the park's visual appeal but would also foster communal spirit.

Cities across America have long-standing traditions involving public holiday trees - New York City's Rockefeller Center tree being one famous example (source: National Christmas Tree Association). These trees serve as symbols for unity and celebration during this special time.

By erecting a holiday tree in Munn Park, we can join these cities in creating an annual tradition that brings joy to residents and visitors alike while enhancing our city's charm. Let us transform this open space into something truly magical this winter season.
