On May 26th, 2020 Erasmus University Rotterdam announced that during the fall semester of 2020 classes will be held online, which would mean more than six months of online education in total for the current year.

While the COVID-19 pandemic is out of the university’s control, it is unreasonable for the students to pay the full cost of tuition. The quality of classes has been proven to be substandard, and we are deprived of access to all physical school resources we are paying for. Also, the value of education for international students, which Erasmus has hundreds of, has practically ceased to exist.

Ultimately, it is not the responsibility of full-time students to bear the cost of the impact of coronavirus pandemic on academic resources. Therefore, the students of Erasmus University Rotterdam request to refund all students the difference between the costs of in-person education and online education while considering numerous intangible, but existent aspects the university implicitly obliges to provide.
