Stop injustice in making workers redundant to create social distance!
The Issue
Furlough, redundancies arised to create 2 m distance since Covid-19 started could have been avoided if everybody's hours would have been reduced. This petition asks the Government to reconsider their position and stop letting employees to make furloughed workers redundant to create social distance in crisis times, and reduce everybody's hours, so everybody could survive.
According to the Office for National Statistics nearly A MILLION PEOPLE have been removed from the payrolls of British companies since March till August 2020 during first lockdown since pandemic started. This compares with further 2.6 MILLION in April 2021, with a possible meaning that could be not the same people as usually, Jobseeker`s Allowance doesn`t last more than 3 to 6 months.
First redundancies started in February 2020 in the light of upcoming first national and global lockdown on the 23 rd of March - in February 2020, temporary staff was first to be made redundant bringing 1.4 MILLION seeking either Jobseeker's Allowance or universal credit because they were "SEARCHING FOR A JOB" IN THE LIGHT OF UPCOMING INDEFINITE LOCKDOWN, WHEN THE WAYS OF SPREADING OF UNKNOWN DEASEASE EVEN WASN'T KNOWN (at first, the disease thought to be spreading by infected surfaces, not air).
Being selected for redundancy can have a significant detrimental impact on someone’s mental health, on the morale, and wellbeing of employees regardless of their previous health history and personal resilience.
Stopping the Government from letting employers furloughed employees redundant will allow everybody to survive and will have a good impact on morale, mental health and wellbeing of everyone in critical times.
