Why this petition matters

Our children were created by us albeit in a non-traditional manner, we are their constant, their advocates, there are no other parents other than us. Our children’s needs are paramount, they need stability and certainty from having the benefit of two legally recognised intended parents who can effectively provide for their needs. They deserve the same access to the constitutional rights and equalities of all other children in society.

As set out in the constitution our children have “natural and imprescriptible rights,” that the state should by its laws, “protect and vindicate those rights.”

It's hard to believe, but in 2022 children born through surrogacy are less equal than all other Irish children, Irish Families Through Surrogacy therefore call for immediate legislation which addresses the rights of our children to legal security and equality before the law.

Let's stand together to ensure our government protect our children and agree to take the recommendations from the Joint Oireachtas Committee on International Surrogacy and legislate accordingly.

The time is now

Please sign our petition to ensure our children can have a legal relationship with both parents

Thank you
