Dear West Covina Residents,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Vivienne Khau, and I am a resident of our wonderful community. I am writing to bring to your attention an important issue that affects many of us who rent our homes here in West Covina. Currently, it is illegal to park on the streets of the City of West Covina overnight. The city’s street parking regulations only allow single-family homeowners to obtain street parking permits. This policy leaves many renting families, especially those with more than one vehicle, without viable parking options.

Many apartment complexes in our city provide only one parking space per unit. This limited allocation is insufficient for families with multiple vehicles, compelling residents to seek alternative parking solutions that often lead to illegal parking decisions, significant inconveniences, and additional expenses due to parking tickets.

As renters and active members of the West Covina community, we contribute to the local economy and participate in neighborhood activities just like homeowners. We deserve equal access to street parking. By proving our residency, we should be able to obtain street parking permits, ensuring fair and convenient parking for all.

To address this issue, I am organizing a petition to present to the West Covina City Council, requesting that the current parking regulations be amended to allow renters the opportunity to obtain street parking permits. By supporting this petition, you will help create a more inclusive and fair community for all residents, regardless of whether they rent or own their homes.
