Independent Investigation of Flight Restaurant Group

Independent Investigation of Flight Restaurant Group
The Issue
The principal owners and operators of Flight Restaurant Group have a long history of systemic racism, misogyny, and abusive business practices. The discrimination includes, but is not limited to, segregated seating practices, refusing to interview/hire people of color for management or customer interacting positions, using racial slurs, hiring based on sex appeal (specifically young and often teenage women), purchasing alcohol for underage women as a “recruiting” tactic, verbal abuse and wrongfully termination for sex appeal based appearance standards like not wearing enough make up, wearing glasses, and hair styles.
Those signed affirm that they worked at either Flight, Southern Social, Porch and Parlor, or Coastal Fish Company (Flight Restaurant Group) and personally witnessed Russ Graham, and/or managers at his direction, engage in one or many of the above acts of discrimination/abuse.
We demand an independent investigation of their hiring practices. Specifically how many people of color have were hired in the front of house since inception in 2009. We demand a civil suit be brought, based on interviews of former staff, to establish the pattern of racism, sexism, and abusive practices. We demand that the ownership accept full responsibility for their actions and the toxic culture that they created.
Those signed condemn the idea that the business can investigate itself, as the discrimination was at the direction of the ownership. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and NAACP should have direct oversight of an independent investigation and report its findings to the general public.
These former employees demand that the owners stop threatening and intimidating victims and witnesses, make a public apology for the damage they have done, and remove Russ Graham as a principal in the business.
