I love all animals and believe that pets should be treated like family, with love and care. It breaks my heart to see sweet, innocent animals tied to trees with no room to move, left without shade or shelter in extreme weather conditions, or hurt for fun. Currently, there is a disparity between how animal rights are enforced in the city versus the county. In the city of Madison, AL, fines are imposed for mistreating animals; however, in the county areas surrounding Madison, such protections are often lacking.

This inconsistency allows for neglect and abuse to go unchecked just because of geographical boundaries. Animals deserve equal protection regardless of whether they live in urban or rural areas. By aligning animal welfare laws across both city and county lines, we can ensure that all pets receive the humane treatment they deserve.
