Buckhurst Way and Loughton Way have a speed limit of 30 mph. For many years vehicles have far exceeded this limit. This week a young lady tragically lost her life crossing the road on Buckhurst Way and a car flipped over onto its roof on Loughton Way.

Many people have been involved in collisions along this stretch of road and this is sadly not the first fatality. We have a blind bend which makes the junction between Buckhurst Way and Chestnut Avenue particularly dangerous.

No one deserves to lose their life crossing the road. We call on the council to take steps to control the speed along Buckhurst Way and Loughton Way, either by way of speed bumps or a speed camera. We would also like the council to review their street lighting policy on Buckhurst Way and Loughton Way.
