Zara Larsson has to leave Epic records!
The Issue
This has happened so many times before! Epic records promote their artist in the first era. They get expensive music videos, they get to perform on tv etc. Let me just name a few examples megan trainor had a successfull first era, she was promised everything. But then they stoped believing in her and therefore no promo. Fifth harmony had no chance after Camila left because, you guessed it! The label didn't believe in it anymore. They had no promo and who even noticed that they released a hole nother album. They are still promoting camilas upcoming era like crazy and that's great! But it's just a matter of one new project that the label don't believe in and then it's goodbye with the money for you miss Cabello! Hopefully by then she is big enough to keep on selling albums without a lot of promo. But the same is not the case for Zara Larsson. Going into super stardom is hard and it's very expensive! And Zara has yet to break america. Dropping her now is like stoping while seeing the finish line. She is very close. One example of this is her single Ruin my life. She managed to get the song into the Billboard hot 100 list despite it not having any promo. It got a music video but there was no live performance. No Ellen, no Jimmy fallon, nothing in the US. This means she's known but she's not a household name yet. She needs to chart a little bit better for the song to go viral. Breaking through will cost money, but Epic records aka Sony has decided to not pay for it. Blackbutter in the UK are not giving her much either, but she's more well known there. What we need to do is to target the US market and that's why we need to show Epic Records that we demand that she is treted as the big talant she is. The ones who pay for her breakthrough will be abel to stack up money eventually that is a garantee. But epic doesn't want to deliver on what they promised when she signed the contract. They expect to be passive now and still get the money if a song randomly goes viral...
This all started when Zara showed what she had created in the studio and apparently they didn't believe in it. They didn't want to release the song that Zara wanted to (Don't worry bout me) and they got angry when Zara decided to do so without their support. They gave her a lame excuse of a music video with almost no budget. She was just standing there and dancing a bit. Then they moved on to the mext single (All the time) and to promote that one, zara travelled around the US on this intense radio tour. She was talking to a lot of radio hosts and eventually they played her songs so much that she peaked at #1 on the US hot dance radio chart. This gave her some momentum and together with some other promo like a Tv performance or something, it was a given hit! What did the label do? NOTHING!! Imagine what a hit Ruin my life could have been if they had given it some promo. It peaked at 76 on the hot 100 for christ sake. But again the label did nothing!
So this is why we should all sign the petition for Zara Larsson to leave her label Epic Records. We need to show that there are fans out there who cares and sees her talant. She deserves more than beeing used as a quick cashgrab! She deserves a better Label that can see her potential.
