Challenge the Romanian government to stop the massacres, brutality and starvation in the public dog shelters.

The Issue

Romanian has a terrible problem with stray dogs.  Their answer is to employ "dog catchers" who brutally catch these dogs and puppies, often breaking their limbs in order to shove them into small crates, for this they will receive 100 euro per dog...it's very lucrative.

The shelters are horrific hell holes and rife with disease.   Dogs who are in these shelters have nothing ie no shelter, virtually no food and certainly no medication. Bacau and Bresta have to be amongst the worst. It is pure hell on earth and nobody is stopping the brutality.  The guards have a free reign to do as they wish....it's like a Nazi Concentration Camp.  We are told that the dogs and puppies wee and poo themselves with fear when they see the guards.  It's heartbreaking.  Many of the dogs have been killed by the guards and it's not with a lethal injection, its through hammering them to death.

Rescues are trying to help and save as many dogs and puppies as they can but it's like putting a plaster on a gigantic open wound.  One shelter has recently had to close their doors because they are full to capacity and are desperate because they know what will happen to them.  Galati, Bresta, Pallady are some of the shelters.   Some rescues have now realised that staff in these shelters watch the rescuers posts on social media.  If any dogs are shown in their "shelters" who look sick etc then those dogs disappear....they are probably killed by the workers - they don't like the bad publicity.

We need 100,000 signatures and then the UK government will consider debating this in the House of Commons. We want them to put pressure on the Romanian government to stop this terrible abuse. We need this to happen by the middle of March 2015 as the current parliament will close on the 31 March 2015 - its a big ask!!!

The new Romanian President is said to be sympathetic to the situation so there is hope but we need change to happen now. We doubt he even knows just how bad it is....we doubt those in charge of the shelters would show the true extent of the extreme cruelty and neglect in these hell holes.  We see too many horrific photos coming out of these shelters, it's terribly upsetting and it's never ending.

Please help these poor innocent animals.  There are plenty of rescue organisations who want to help and make a difference.  Romania can solve this problem but humanely.  We need your signatures and we need them quickly - please sign and share and share and share.  Thank you.
