Sign the petition to protect Maldives surf breaks from rampant coastal development! (Translation in Dhivehi below)

Save The Waves Coalition at the direction of and in partnership with local surfers, international partners, and the independent organization Save Our Waves Maldives, is officially launching a campaign to call for the protection of surf breaks across the islands of the Maldives.  

Our local partners estimate there are at least 20 world class waves that are immediately threatened by infrastructure projects or have already been damaged or lost due to development.  

Chickens, one of the best and most accessible waves in the Maldives, has been significantly altered due to the construction of a seawall on the island. In addition, many other waves are faced with similar infrastructure projects; these will damage the waves, reef ecosystems, and surf communities that depend on these places.  Save The Waves is calling on government agencies and development interests to protect the incredible waves the country possesses by ensuring no development project impacts or destroys surf ecosystems.  Learn more at www.savethewaves.org/maldives

ތިމާވެއްޓަށް ނުރައްކާވާ (އަދި ނުރަނގަޅު އަސަރު ކުރާ) ފަދަ 'ކޯސްޓަލް ޑެވެލޮޕްމަންޓް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް' (ތޮށިލުމާ، ބިންހިއްކުމާ، ބަނދަރުހެދުން އަދި ފަޅުފުންކުރުން) ތަކުން ރާއްޖޭގެ ޤުދުރަތީ ރާޅާ އަޅާ މަންޒިލްތައް ޙިމާޔްތްކުރުމުގެ ޕެޓިޝަން.

މި ކެމްޕޭނަކީ ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކިއެކި ރާޅާއެޅުން ތެރިންނާއި، ބޭރުގެ އެކި ބައިވެރިން ހިމެނޭހެން 'ސޭވް ދަ ވޭވް ކޯލިޝަން' އެކުވެ، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީ ކުރެވިގެން ކުރިއަށް ގެންދާ ޖަމިއްޔާ އެއްކަމުގައިވާ 'ސޭވް އަވަރ ވޭވްސް މޯލްޑިވްސް' ގެ އިސްނެގުމުގެ މަތިން، ރަސްމީކޮށް މުޅި ރާއްޖޭގެ ހުރިހާ ރަށެއްގައި ފަށާ ކެމްޕޭނެކެވެ.

އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ދިވެހި ބައިވެރިން ދެކޭ ގޮތުގައި މިހާތަނަށް 20 (ވިހި) 'ސާރފް ބްރޭކް' އަކަށް (ރާޅާ އަޅާ މަންޒިލެއް) ވަނީ މިފަދަ ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް ތަކުގެ އަސަރުކޮށް، އޭގެ ތެރެއިން ބައެއް ތަންތަން އެކައްހަލާކުވެ އަދި ނެތި ދިއުމުގެ ބިރު ހީވެފައެވެ.

މިގޮތުން (ކ.ކުޑަވލިނގިލީ ފަރުގައި އޮންނަ) 'ޗިކަންސް' (ރާޅާއަޅާ މަންޒިލް މަޝްހޫރުވެފައި އޮތް ނަން) އަކީ ރާއްޖޭގައި އޮތް، ބޭރުގެ ފަތުރުވެރިންގެ މެދުގަ އާއި ރާއްޖޭގެ ރާޅާއެޅުންތެރިންގެ މެދުގައި މަޤްބޫލް ރާޅާ އަޅާ މަންޒިލެކެވެ. ނަމަވެސް އެރަށުގައި (ކުޑަވިލިންގިލީގައި) ހަދާފައިވާ  'ސީވޯލް' (ތޮށިލުން) ގެ ސަބަބުން މިރާޅަކީ މިހާރު ވަރަށް ބޮޑަށް ނެތި ދިއުމުގެ ބިރު ހީވެފައިވާ، އަދި ކުރީގެ މަޤްބޫލްކަން ނެތެމުންދާ ރާޅެކެވެ. މީގެއިތުރުންވެސް، ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކިކަންކޮޅު ތަކުގައިވާ ފަރު ފަރަށް ނަގާ ރީތި ރާޅުތައް ވަނީ މިކަހަލަ 'އިންފްރާ ސްޓަރަކްޗާ ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް' ތަކުގެ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރުކޮށް، އެފަރުތަކުގައި ހިމެނޭ މަސްމަހާ މެހީގެ ދިރުމާ، މުރަކަތަކާއި (އެހެނިހެން 'އިކޯސިސްޓަމް' ތައް) އަދި މިތަން ތަނަށް ބަރޯސާވާ މުޖުތަމައުގައި ހިމެނޭ ފަރުދުންނަށް މީގެ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރު (ސީދާ ގޮތުންނާއި ނުސީދާގޮތުން) ދަނީ ކުރަމުންނެވެ. މިހެންކަމުން 'ސޭވް ދަ ވޭވްސް' (ކޯލިޝަން) އިން ސަރުކާރާއި، ސަރުކާރުގެ އިދާރާތަކާއި، އަދި މިކަމުގައި ޝާމިލްވާ އެހެނިހެން ފަރާތްތަކަށް ގޮވާލަނީ މިފަދަ ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް ތަކުގެ ނެދެވޭ އަސަރު މިންޖުކޮށް، ދުނިޔޭގައި ދެވަނައެއް ނެތްފަދަ ރާއްޖޭގައިވާ ޤުދުރަތީ ރާޅާ އަޅާ މަންޒިލް ތަކާއި، އެރާޅުތައް ނަގާ ފަރުތަކުގައި ހިމެނޭ ޤުދުރަތީ ދިރުން ހިމެނޭހެން (ސާފް އެކޯސިސްޓަމް) ހިމާޔަތްކޮށްދިނުމަށެވެ. މިކަމާއި ބެހޭ އިތުރު މަޢުލޫމާތު މިލިންކް އިން ލިބިލައްވާނެ؛ www.savethewaves.org/maldives
