Stop diesel pollution in Lower Test River

The Issue

The Lower Test Nature Reserve is an oasis within a stone's throw of an urban environment. Not only is it a special place in terms of nature and wildlife, with the reedbeds and marshland, but it is also a really important place to me and has played a big part in my recovery from many surgeries. It is in short, my happy place.

At the heart of it, is the River Test running through it. A beautifully clear river with an abundance of wildlife, including kingfishers, otters, brown trout and salmon. Over the years we have noticed that after rain there tends to be some diesel that finds its way into the river. There is an industrial estate nearby with hundreds of lorries. Sadly, this has become more and more frequent, and recently the amount has increased and the smell of it has permeated throughout a large part of the reserve.

Despite reporting this to the Environment Agency, nothing seems to be being done. It is only a matter of time before this starts impacting the wildlife and plant life in this very special area.

Please help me in trying to bring some pressure to bear, in order that this problem is addressed and ultimately resolved.

Thank you.
