Please help us, the community of Atlantis in the Western Cape, to stop MACCSAND Holding Company (PTY) LTD from mining at our sand dunes on the remainder of ERF 2756 on the R307, Atlantis.

This will be hazardous to the community and a disaster for the natural habitat of many species. 
The process of sand mining holds absolutely no benefits to the environment or the community. In fact, it will be disruptive to both ecological- as well as the social environment all together.

It will  affect our underground water, cause severe air pollution, constant dust plooms, traffic congestion and noise pollution due to trucks and machinery using the R307. Mining proposal is for up to 25 years, no mention in the report on the short and long time effect and affects of silica particles found in all sand. Leads to lung cancer (factual information), kidney disease and pulmonary diseases.

Also as a town where there is practically no recreational facilities for young people we say NO to big corporations (and government) taking away of the last places where kids can freely play.

 This is the sand dunes are part of our history, it is where we played as children and we want to protect it for future generations!
