The Issue

We are calling on Longwood LGFA Meath to ensure that all children under their care are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. It is crucial that the organisation adheres to the Code of Conduct and Code of Behavior as laid down by the LGFA, putting the enjoyment, learning, and development of children before competitive success. The current practice of prioritizing winning over these fundamental values is detrimental to the well-being and growth of our young players.

It is essential for the mental and emotional welfare and development of our children that positive values such as fair play and respect for all participants are demonstrated and promoted by all.  Team selection needs to be conducted in a clear, transparent, and consistent manner; and should be communicated to both player and guardian at the beginning of each season.  No child should be left sitting on the bench whilst another from a younger age team is played up before her, priority should always be given to those on the playing team.

We do not want to see our children's health put at risk again by overplaying for numerous different teams over a short period of time; or by being played with an injury that requires treatment.  Every player should receive the same Fundamentals training as their teammate, including Fundamental game skills.

We urge you to sign this petition to hold Longwood LGFA accountable for creating a safe, respectful, and positive emotional environment where our children can thrive both personally and athletically.
