Today we saw the rise of Australian of the Year, Grace Tame, yet again with words of wistful wisdom beyond her years, imparting as much to those who are our leaders and to those who are victims and survivors.

We continue to see that privilege and power translates to refuting and absolution from accusations and the ability to hold fast to that power, regardless. These events lead to disempowerment of all who seek justice, modelling the belief that they are not trustworthy.

Victims of rape and abuse in Australia are struggling. They just want to be seen, heard and believed. Disbelief retraumatises because the inherent heaviness of shame is re-experienced. 

We hear you, we see you, we believe you.
