Ensure Warm Learning Environments for Our Children

Ensure Warm Learning Environments for Our Children

The Issue

Our children deserve a safe and comfortable learning environment where they can focus and thrive. Currently, students at Colin Powell Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland, are experiencing classrooms with insufficient warmth throughout the winter months. To make matters worse, they are not allowed to wear coats to stay warm, leaving them cold and uncomfortable throughout the school day.

This situation is not only unfair but also poses health risks to our children, making it harder for them to focus on learning and increasing their chances of getting sick.

We, the undersigned parents and community members, are calling on the school administration to take immediate action to address this issue. Specifically, we request the following:

1. Repair or upgrade the heating systems in the school to ensure classrooms are adequately heated during winter.
 2. Allow students to wear coats in class until the heating issue is fully resolved.
Our children’s well-being and education should be the school’s top priority. By signing this petition, we stand together to ensure that no child is forced to endure cold classrooms any longer.
