Ensure treatment for all children with congenital heart disease in 2026
The Issue
Child Heart Foundation has long been a beacon of hope for families facing the daunting challenge of congenital heart disease. Founded by a pediatric cardiologist and six dedicated parents, since 2013, this NGO has tirelessly worked to support families, providing both financial and emotional assistance. For years, we have strived to bridge the gaps in pediatric cardiology through various innovative programs, driven by our steadfast mission to save every child afflicted with heart disease.
Despite these efforts, countless children with congenital heart disease still lack access to the life-saving treatment they desperately need. This is not just a health crisis; it is a humanitarian one. The statistics are as alarming as they are heart-wrenching: congenital heart defects (CHDs) affect nearly 1% of—or about 2,00,000—births per year in India alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many of these children require intensive medical intervention soon after birth, and their chance of survival and a healthy life diminishes with every delay in treatment.
Our vision is clear and achievable: 500+ children got treated in 2025, by 2026, we want to ensure that every child diagnosed with a congenital heart defect receives timely and necessary medical care. We believe this goal is within reach if we pool our resources, rise awareness, and advocate for systemic changes in healthcare policies that prioritize pediatric cardiology.
To achieve this, we urge policymakers, medical professionals, and the general public to support measures that would remove financial barriers to treatment access, improve early diagnosis rates through better screening procedures, and enhance hospitals' capacity to cater to pediatric heart patients. Furthermore, increased funding for pediatric cardiology research could yield new treatments and technologies that improve outcomes for all affected children.
We call upon you, our compassionate community, to stand with us in this vital mission. Sign this petition to demand action and initiate the change that will ensure all children with congenital heart disease receive the treatment they need by 2026. Together, we can make a promise to these children and their families: a promise of hope, healing, and a healthier future.
