We, the undersigned, call on the State of Indiana to take immediate action to support children with significant developmental disabilities, including Fragile X syndrome, severe autism, and other complex impairments.

The recent pause on the Indiana Family Supports Waiver has left countless families waiting, some for years, for services that are essential for early intervention, development, and long-term success. Early intervention is not a luxury — it is a lifeline for children and families struggling with the daily challenges of developmental disabilities.

We are asking the State of Indiana to:
-Resume processing Family Supports Waiver applications immediately so children with significant needs are no longer put on “pause.”

-Increase funding and hire additional staff to reduce waitlists and ensure families receive timely support.

-Prioritize children with the highest needs so those with complex impairments do not fall further behind.

-Provide transparency and accountability with regular public updates on waitlists, processing times, and efforts to expand services.
