Ensure Timely Salary Payment to Doctors in Private Medical Colleges of Uttar Pradesh

Petition
We, the undersigned doctors, teaching faculty and medical professionals working in private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, respectfully request the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Directorate General of Medical Education & Training (DGME), National Medical Commission (NMC), and concerned regulatory authorities to ensure that we must receive salaries on or before the 5th of every month.
The Problem
Doctors in private medical colleges carry major responsibilities in:
* Patient care and emergency services
* Undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
* Clinical training and supervision
* Research and academic activities
* Institutional and regulatory responsibilities
However, in many instances, doctors working in private medical colleges face salary delays of 2–4 months. Such prolonged and repeated delays create significant financial uncertainty and adversely affect the professional dignity and well-being of doctors and their families.
A doctor should not have to repeatedly follow up with the administration for payment of salary that is legitimately due for professional services already rendered.
Our Key Demands
We request that the following measures be implemented:
1. Salary by the 5th of every month
All private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh should ensure that the monthly salary of doctors and teaching faculty is credited on or before the 5th of the following month.
2. Mandatory salary-payment reporting to NMC
Just as medical colleges are required to maintain and update various institutional and faculty-related information, including faculty attendance/compliance, there should be a mechanism through which private medical colleges periodically update NMC regarding salary payment status of their doctors and teaching faculty.
3. Transparent digital record
NMC/DGME should consider establishing a digital salary-payment compliance system/dashboard, where colleges periodically certify that faculty salaries have been paid within the prescribed timeline.
4. Accountability for repeated violations
Repeated delays in salary payment should be reviewed by the appropriate regulatory authority and, where necessary, appropriate action should be taken.
5. Protection of doctors’ professional dignity
Doctors should not face adverse professional consequences, intimidation or victimisation for raising genuine concerns regarding delayed payment of their salary.
Our Appeal
We appeal to the NMC, Government of Uttar Pradesh, DGME and managements of private medical colleges to introduce a clear and enforceable mechanism ensuring that doctors and teaching faculty receive their salaries on or before the 5th of every month.
We further request that salary-payment compliance be periodically reported/updated to NMC through an appropriate digital mechanism, in a manner comparable to other institutional compliance requirements such as faculty attendance.
We Request Your Support
If you are a doctor, medical faculty member, healthcare professional, student, patient or citizen who believes that doctors deserve timely and transparent payment for their professional services, please sign and share this petition.
Our Message
“No doctor should have to wait 2–4 months for their rightful salary.”
“Pay doctors on time. Ensure accountability. Respect the profession.”
