I am a resident of Malasiqui, Pangasinan, Philippines. Every day, I witness the harsh treatment of street animals in our municipality. These innocent creatures are often kicked or pelted with rocks for no reason other than their appearance or smell. This cruelty deeply affects me and it is time we take action to change this.

Street animals are as deserving of respect and kindness as any other living being. They cannot express their hunger or pain like we do, yet they endure so much suffering silently. It is our responsibility to extend a helping hand towards these helpless creatures.

In addition to moral reasons, there are also legal implications for animal cruelty in the Philippines under The Animal Welfare Act (Republic Act 8485). Violators can face penalties including imprisonment and fines.

We need stronger enforcement of these laws in Malasiqui and more awareness about animal rights among our citizens. We must educate people about treating all animals fairly - whether they are pets at home or stray ones on the streets.

Let's make Malasiqui a safer place for all its inhabitants - humans and animals alike. Let us show compassion towards these voiceless beings who share our world but do not have the means to protect themselves from harm.
