Fitness to practice News have run an article on our FOI done to the NMC over the past 2 years looking at the increasing numbers of applications to the High Court requesting extensions to interim orders.

An interim order is reviewed every 6months or if the registrant can bring new information to light to enable it to be lifted or changed. If the full investigation has not occurred within 18 months or the case has not closed the NMC have to apply to the High court for an extension order

This has been occurring more and more frequently and should not become commonplace
