Today the NMC Council meet and along with other items on the agenda is the ongoing failure to complete cases in a timely manner. 

The NMC failed this aspect on their annual FtP report once again - consistently for the past 3 years

However we can find publications that show this has been going on a lot longer than than and indeed seems an ongoing theme for many many years.

will the council take action instead of saying " things are improving" " we are sorry for delays"

Apologies do not work for a nurse or midwife who has been unable to work for 3years due to the process or the impact of the process. With the current staffing climate this is not helping ..

Failure to do harm must be integral to any regulation - to both the public and those members of the public who are nurses and midwives as well as the profession itself. Many of the group have said they feel that FtP itself has made them unfit to practice which is extremely worrying
