In the last 24hours much debate has orientated around twitter feeds and an article in the BMJ.
Andrea James, regulator lawyer tweeted how saddened she was to find a case at her doorstep that had been referred to the regulatory body because said professional had refused to care for a patient without adequate PPE. Andrea was extremely diplomatic to ensure none of her message identified which healthcare profession the person belonged to. However, the article tried to dig and delve as if in a game of "Who's Who" Was it a doctor? Was it a paramedic...
The point seems to be missed - there are no top trumps of which healthcare professional deserves more attention than another - the issue that should be debated is that which brings this person to their regulatory body. Lack of PPE is already being examined as an element in the recent deaths of many healthcare workers during COVID crisis. The reality is no member of the healthcare service is exempt from equal risk and as such should receive the same attention.
