The Issue

Having traveled to several national parks across the country, I have witnessed firsthand the awe-inspiring beauty and the delicate ecosystems they house. These parks are not only a haven for nature enthusiasts but not also holding cultural and historical significance for many communities, they offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, serving as a reminder of the world's natural wonders and our responsibility to preserve them.

Our national parks provide essential habitats for diverse wildlife, safeguard unique landscapes, and offer educational experiences for visitors of all ages. Adequate funding is crucial to maintain the infrastructure, ensure safety for visitors and staff, and implement conservation efforts that protect our natural heritage for future generations.

Currently, funding for national parks is insufficient to cover the necessary expenses for maintenance, staffing, and conservation projects. According to a report by the National Parks Conservation Association, there is a backlog of nearly $12 billion in deferred maintenance across the National Park System. This includes critical repairs to roads, bridges, trails, and visitor centers, which are integral to providing a positive experience for all park visitors and ensuring their safety.

Moreover, increased funding is necessary to support the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to manage these natural treasures. Park rangers not only protect the natural and cultural resources but also educate the public, enhance visitor experiences, and ensure the safety of all who enter the parks.

We urge the government to recognize the immense value that national parks bring to our nation and provide the necessary financial support. This investment is not just in the preservation of our natural landscapes but also in the well-being and education of our citizens.

Please join me in advocating for increased funding for our national parks to ensure that they are protected and preserved for generations to come. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and make a difference in the future of our national parks.
