As concerned parents in Pinellas County, our priority is the safety of our children. Sending our kids to school every day should come with peace of mind, not worry about their security. For this very reason, we propose the mandatory installation of metal detectors in each school within the county.

School violence is a national concern and our schools should be on the forefront of employing preventative measures. Metal detectors could be an effective part of a comprehensive safety and security plan for our schools; just as they are for airports, sporting events, and theme parks.
