The Issue

The PS5 Pro doesn’t include a disc drive out of the box. I don’t want physical media to disappear and I want to make sure that the PS6 comes with a disc drive before it’s too late. Plus in theory the PS6 will be backwards compatible with PS4 and PS5 games and we would want to use the physical discs of PS4 and PS5 games on the PS6. If it’s also backwards compatible with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games we would also want to use physical discs of PS1, PS2, and PS3 games on the PS6, if possible. We are also hoping for physical PS6 games. I want physical media in all consoles. I’m also hoping for an option for a PS6 with a disc drive and a option for a digital only PS6 like the PS5. If anyone at Sony sees this petition please keep including physical media in future consoles.

The continuation of physical media and backwards compatibility is very important. I have accumulated a vast collection of physical discs for my PS4 and PS5, embodying years of cherished memories. The thought of these treasured games becoming obsolete with the release of the PlayStation 6 is both alarming and disheartening. I firmly believe in the tangible value that physical media offers.

Physical discs provide a sense of ownership that digital downloads simply cannot replicate. They hold sentimental value and represent a more personal connection to gaming for many enthusiasts like myself. Furthermore, physical media allows for the conservation of gaming history, preserving experiences for future generations. If the PS6 forgoes a disc drive, millions of gamers who share this passion could be left without the ability to enjoy their favorite games in the traditional way.

Adding a disc drive to the PS6 would not only cater to dedicated fans of physical media, but it also emphasizes the importance of consumer choice. Furthermore, it's vital that the PS6 supports backward compatibility with PS4 and PS5 games. This capability would not only prolong the lifespan of our cherished games but also recognize the value and respect PlayStation fans have placed on their gaming libraries over the years. Enabling backwards compatibility ensures continuity, making the transition to the next-gen console smooth and rewarding for all.

Sony has shown the ability to innovate while respecting its loyal community. It is the perfect time to demonstrate this commitment again by retaining a disc drive and providing backwards compatibility in the PS6. We have witnessed other gaming platforms make strides in backwards compatibility, enhancing consumer satisfaction and loyalty.

I know I made a petition to include a disc drive in the PS6, but please sign this petition if you want both a disc drive and backwards compatibility. Which I made this petition on accident so if you're worried about backwards compatibility here you go.
