The Issue

Our community at Hafen Ranch/Kellog is in distress as we confront a serious issue concerning the safety of our loved ones and pets. Recently, two dogs owned by our neighbors at 4800 Savoy Blvd – a German Shepherd and an Australian Shepherd – broke through our side gate and brutally attacked and killed our cat (Ladyguard) on 1/27/26 at approx 11:15pm. This heartbreaking incident has exposed a dangerous trend that needs immediate attention. Through discussions with other neighbors, it has come to light that this is not an isolated event. These dogs have a history of aggression, having previously attacked other pets and posing a threat to school children in the vicinity. The safety and peace of our community are at stake, and we must act now to ensure that no more tragedies occur.

Our primary demand is straightforward: we urge the authorities to mandate that these dogs are kept securely within their owners' property, behind reliable and sturdy fencing. If the owners are unable to comply, we insist on the removal of these dangerous dogs to prevent further harm. The importance of proper containment cannot be overstated, as it protects both the animals and the residents of our neighborhood.

We understand the challenges of being responsible pet owners, but with ownership comes the duty to ensure the safety of others. The community deserves to live without fear of unchecked aggression from pets that are inadequately restrained. Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveal that approximately 4.5 million dog bites occur in the U.S. annually, with children being at particularly high risk. Ensuring proper fencing and restraint of potentially aggressive dogs could significantly reduce such incidents.

We call upon local animal control, the police department, and community leaders to urgently step in and enforce stricter pet ownership regulations within our neighborhood. Our goal is not only to safeguard our families but also to prevent further suffering for any animal or person involved.

Please join us in making our community a safer place. Sign this petition to demand immediate action from the relevant authorities. Together, we can ensure that our neighborhood remains a peaceful and secure environment for everyone.
