The Issue

Millions of students under the National University of Bangladesh are facing serious distress due to the newly published Honours 4th Year examination schedule. The exams are set to begin at 2:00 PM and continue till 6:00 PM—causing significant problems for both male and female students who have to travel long distances back home, often after dark. Furthermore, the timing overlaps with Asr prayer, forcing many students to miss their religious obligations.

Beyond the timing issue, students are also troubled by the lack of sufficient preparation time between exams. With only one day between most exams, students have barely enough time to revise their vast syllabi, resulting in extreme stress and academic pressure. Additionally, sudden changes in the question format without proper academic support or classroom preparation are creating an unfair and unrealistic burden for students—especially when most colleges do not even conduct regular classes, internal assessments, or mock tests.

If this situation continues, students' mental health, academic performance, and even personal safety will continue to deteriorate. Many students are already expressing fear, frustration, and helplessness.

Now is the time to act. We, the students of National University, respectfully demand:

Exams to be held in the morning (preferably 10:00 AM)

Consideration of prayer time during exams

At least 2–3 days gap between exams

Fair implementation of question reforms with academic support

Regular classes and internal assessments in all affiliated colleges

We call upon the National University authorities to consider these practical, respectful, and student-focused demands. Sign and share this petition to raise your voice!
