The Issue

A tragic situation is unfolding within our community involving a 13-year-old autistic child who is reported to be suffering from neglect and abuse at the hands of their parents. It is critical that Child Protective Services (CPS) becomes involved to ensure the safety and well-being of this vulnerable child before it is too late.

There are numerous signs pointing to the child's distress, including marked changes in behavior, unexplained injuries, and frequent absence from school. These worrying signs have not only been observed by neighbors but have also been cautiously noted by school officials who are all too familiar with the child's troubled home environment.

According to a 2020 study conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics, children with disabilities are three to four times more likely to suffer from abuse and neglect than their non-disabled peers. This statistic is alarming and calls for urgent action to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

The couple in question has consistently demonstrated an alarming disregard for their child's needs, neglecting to provide the necessary medical care, emotional support, and learning opportunities crucial for any child's development, more so for a child with autism.

Our community cannot stand idly by while a child is subjected to such conditions. We must rally together to demand that CPS promptly investigates the matter and takes appropriate action to safeguard the child's future.

We urge all concerned citizens to sign this petition to bring attention and urgency to this case, highlighting the undeniable need for intervention and support for a child who deserves a chance at a better life. Let's be the voice for the voiceless and stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Please add your signature today to help protect this child and ensure justice is served.
