The Issue

Restore Trust in NEET and JEE: Demand Accountability and Transparency from the NTA

Every year, millions of students dedicate countless hours, sacrifices, and years of preparation to national entrance examinations such as NEET and JEE. These exams determine access to higher education and shape the future of aspiring doctors, engineers, and researchers across India.

Yet in recent years, confidence in the examination system has been shaken by controversies surrounding paper leaks, irregularities, normalization concerns, and significant fluctuations in exam difficulty levels. Students and parents are increasingly left questioning whether the system is providing a fair and equal opportunity for all candidates.

The issue extends beyond marks and rankings. Students invest years of hard work, often under immense financial, emotional, and psychological pressure. When examination integrity is compromised, it is not merely an administrative failure—it directly affects the futures of lakhs of students.

One of the major concerns is the inconsistency in examination standards. Unexpected variations in difficulty levels from year to year make it difficult for students to assess their preparedness and compete on a level playing field. In addition, recurring allegations of paper leaks and procedural lapses have damaged public trust in the examination process.

We believe that every student deserves an examination system that is secure, transparent, predictable, and fair.

Therefore, we call upon the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Ministry of Education to:

• Strengthen security measures to prevent paper leaks and examination malpractice.

• Publish detailed transparency reports following each examination cycle.

• Establish an independent oversight committee consisting of education experts, former judges, and student representatives.

• Develop a standardized framework to maintain reasonable consistency in examination difficulty levels.

• Ensure swift and transparent investigations whenever irregularities are reported.

• Introduce stronger accountability mechanisms for officials and agencies responsible for examination administration.

Students should never have to fear that factors beyond their control will determine their future. Merit must be protected, trust must be restored, and the integrity of India's most important entrance examinations must be upheld.

If you believe that every student deserves a fair chance, please sign this petition and share it widely. Together, we can advocate for a more transparent, accountable, and student-centered examination system.
