Remember for a moment a time when you felt the most anxious, nervous and frightened then remember a time of complete and utter devastation fear and dreed a real moment in time or news that came along and immediately gave you a sinking hopeless feeling all of those emotions in a wave are what a this pupil endures sometimes on a daily basis not due to an event of any kind just an avalanche of emotions the child couldn't avoid in an environment they couldn't remove themselves from. without support and no way of knowing when it would end or why it is happening, it is some achievement and something to be celebrated that this amazing child can have the courage and bravery to try and overcome that monumental challenge rather than give in or give up on education altogether,
It is however not something to be celebrated by the school, they would rather exclude from Prom and end of school celebration of friends and classmates that have all had there own challenges along the way. Not all children should be measured by a single metric or penalised for not fitting the rigid definition of acceptable, some children deserve to be held up as a positive example of an individual overcoming the disadvantages of mental turmoil and anxiety to be brave enough to try, I have no doubt that if the decision makers at Ingleby Manor walked a day in this devastated Childs shoes they would celebrate them rather than exclude them from Prom.
