Ensure Continued Financial Support for Contaminated Blood Victims

Ensure Continued Financial Support for Contaminated Blood Victims

The Issue

30,000 people who were all given a death sentence by the UK government. 30,000 people who have endured a life time of suffering. 30,000 people who have been infected and affected by the infected blood scandal. In a world where those victims can no longer work a normal 9-5 job, have been told they are to no longer receive financial funding support from the Government to sustain their living needs and costs. People being told that their compensation will be their final pay out, all while they are still living with the after effects of the blood scandal.

I was infected with Hepatitis-C through blood transfusions that I needed at 18 months old due to having a condition called Aplastic Anaemia. I had no choice but to have weekly platelet and blood transfusions to keep me alive. My parents had no choice but to allow this, and like most others, were not informed of any contaminated blood that infected us all

The monthly support payments that are received now through EIBSS are what people use to live a normal life, I myself cannot work thanks to the government's mishandling and injustice towards those infected and affected by the Infected Blood Scandal. I called the IBCA phone line to get some clarification on the monthly support payments that not only I receive, but countless others.

In the IBCA scheme, it doesn't state in its summery that support payments will discontinue.  Only that, come the 31st March 2025, payments will continue, until a persons case has been reviewed, an subsequently from the 1st of April 2025 that any money received from these support payments will be deducted from a persons final compensation.

I was informed by a call handler at the IBCA, that come when a persons case is reviewed and closed, and they choose either to receive a lump sum payment or periodic payments, their monthly support payments will cease to exist, as the EIBSS will cease to exist come the 1st of April 2025. An thus become the IBCA

The government must continue to financially support people historically infected with contaminated blood products even after compensation has been delivered. This ongoing support is crucial for our daily lives, health needs, and overall well-being. Sign this petition to urge the government not to abandon us in our time of need. Compensation will not sustain those for long who try to continue to lead a semi-normal life marred by this injustice, because some of us have developed further co-morbidities from having Hepatitis-C, AIDS and HIV

Please sign this petition, so those who receive these payments can continue to do so, due to a governments failings to protect its citizens

Thank You
