Too many times we hear that the probation system in the UK has failed families. Four close family members of mine were murdered at once in 2022 in Bermondsey, South London. As a family, this has been the hardest thing that we have had to go through. The murders could have potentially been avoided if the probation team working with the perpetrator had done more with his care. There were a number of oversights and failings by the probation workers on his case. 

The current state of probation services is alarming, with reports indicating that nearly 40% of probation officers feel they lack adequate training (source: HM Inspectorate of Probation). This lack of preparation can lead to devastating consequences, as seen in our case.

We demand comprehensive and continuous training for all probation workers to ensure they are fully equipped to handle their responsibilities effectively.
