Earlier today in a livestream, Orange County Police Department announced that the body of Miya Marcano was found. Miya did not deserve this. Her family does not deserve this. Miya was failed by those who were supposed to protect her. She lived not even 500 feet from where she worked. She only worked at the complex for 3 months.

Miya is the sun, shining in the hearts of those who love her. She had her whole life ahead of her, so many things left undone, so many wishes left unmade. She was supposed to come home last Friday, on the day she missed her flight. Now she finally has, but not in the way we hoped for. We stand with Miya's family at this time and request that they be given the time and space needed to mourn their Mimi, their light, their angel.

This should not have happened. Miya should still be here with us. This apartment complex is unsafe and has been known to be unsafe since before The Preiss Company acquired the property in 2018. They have had all this time to address our concerns, and they have not lifted a finger. We need to force their hand, so this can never happen again. We need justice for Miya. We demand change.

Attached is our letter of demands. We need to make Arden answer by October 8, 2021, or we, the residents of Arden Villas, will pursue legal action against The Preiss Company.

If you are a resident of Arden Villas, a member of Miya's family, The Preiss Company, a member of the press, or anyone who wishes to contact us, you can do so at arden.villas.residents@gmail.com
