Hundreds of cancer patients in the UK are being denied access to a life-changing treatment that has already been approved for NHS use by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

PLANETS Cancer Charity is urging NHS England to immediately commission and fund SIRT for NET patients nationwide so that those who need it can access it without further delay. 

Selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) is an innovative treatment that delivers targeted radiation directly to tumours in the liver, offering
better outcomes and faster recovery times.

NICE has approved it for use in neuroendocrine tumour (NET) patients, yet NHS England has failed to provide funding - leaving doctors and patients in an impossible position.

Meanwhile, the NHS does fund the treatment for patients with liver cancer and colorectal cancer which has spread to the liver.
