Enroll Undocumented Immigrants to the British Army

Enroll Undocumented Immigrants to the British Army
The Issue
Over the past years, the UK has seen an increase in illegal immigration. No matter what the causes, it is clear that there are a significant number of people residing in Britain without legal documentation. While this situation is complex, there is a worthwhile solution we'd like to propose - Enrolling these immigrants into the British army.
According to an article in The Guardian from 2018, there were estimated to be between 800,000 and 1.2 million illegal immigrants residing in the UK. As well as offering a path to citizenship for these individuals, this measure could help fill the staffing gap in the British Armed Forces. According to the Defence Select Committee report "Lost in Translation" in 2016, British Armed Forces are severely understaffed and this hasn't improved so far.
This proposal could assist both the immigrants and the country – offering legal status and possible citizenship to those willing to serve, whilst also addressing the staffing shortage in the army.
The immigrants who choose to serve would gain job training, a steady income, and a path towards legal status – while the British Armed Forces would get much-needed personnel. This could be a win-win solution that transforms a challenging situation into a mutually beneficial opportunity. Let's champion this cause and show our government that we value innovative and compassionate solutions. Please sign the petition and help create change.
