Bears are dying because we are not doing enough.

Every year, we lose more bears to human negligence and the public is fed up.

We live on the edge of wilderness, and yet many of our communities still lack consistent bylaws, enforcement, and public education when it comes to coexisting with wildlife. Some of these municipalities aren’t even Bear Smart certified and even certification isn’t enough anymore.

This region is growing. More homes, more people, more development and more conflict with wildlife. But instead of building solutions, we’re reacting after the damage is done often with lethal consequences.

We are calling for immediate, coordinated action across all Lower Mainland municipalities bordering bear habitat.

We demand:

               •   A united municipal alliance a “Bear Smart Alliance” with shared responsibility and real action.

               •   Stronger bylaws and enforcement for managing food attractants like garbage, compost, and bird seed.

               •   Public education campaigns to raise awareness and change behavior not just during bear season, but year-round.

               •   Reform of the Conservation Officer Service (COS) to ensure transparent, consistent, and humane responses to bear encounters not the current shoot-first approach that undermines public trust.

This isn’t about one city or one bear. This is about a broken system and we’re demanding it be fixed.

We’ve waited long enough. It’s time for all municipalities bordering bear habitat to step up and lead together.

Sign this petition to demand change now. Let’s protect bears. Let’s protect communities. And let’s finally do better.

All donations will be given to Critter Care Wildlife Society. Thank you.
