Want Michigan to be a top ten education state? So do we.

For years, our state has fallen behind much of the country in public education. Students of every background, from all across the state, have fallen behind their peers.

If we stay on our current course, Michigan will fall to the bottom ten states for student learning in reading and math by 2030.

Our students deserve better.

Michigan students and families deserve an education that works. We should follow the lead of states that have transformed their education systems and invest in policies that work. We need:

- Effective teaching and school leaders for every Michigan student;

- Career- and college-ready instruction and preparation for every Michigan student;

- Accountability for student learning; and

- Improved opportunities for all students to learn.

We’ve got a long way to go, but our goals are within reach. Let’s make Michigan a top ten education state for all students.
