As a resident of Central Phoenix, AZ I have personally experienced the challenges posed by the reverse lanes on 7th Avenue and 7th Street, however, the City of Phoenix has done studies hat show that eliminating these lanes would increase travel time by an alarming 40%. Understanding the need for efficient traffic flow, it is still crucial to prioritize safety.

Currently, drivers are often confused about which lanes are open due to inadequate signage. This confusion can lead to traffic delays when cars block lanes and can also lead to accidents.

 

By adding lights across the street that indicate which lanes are open at any given time, we can significantly improve both safety and traffic flow.

Further, we should eliminate ALL left hand turns during rush hour, again to keep traffic moving safely along the corridors.

We urge the City of Phoenix to consider this proposal seriously for the betterment of our community and to keep BOTH safety and traffic efficiency a priority.
