Autism Advocacy Organization: Enhance ASD Education Services in Clark County

The Issue

What we want:

  • Clark County School District should maintain a 10 child classroom cap and keep 2 aids in the KIDS Pre-K program (the historic class size for this program).
  • Autistic students should receive more educational funding not the cuts they are experiencing.

Why we're advocating for this:

  • Clark County School District has increased KIDS classroom size by 20% (pre-K) in the last few weeks.
  •  The 2023-2024 KIDS program will drop one of its two aids, resulting in a 33% decrease in supervision and education assistance to students.
  • These changes are Clark County wide, negatively impacting every Autistic child at critical early intervention ages.
  • These changes dramatically reduce the quality of education provided to Autistic kids.
  • These changes pose serious safety concerns: educators will face a 1:6 adult to child ratio in the 2023-2024 school year instead of the 1:3.3 ratio held prior to March 2023.
