Due to the coronavirus pandemic the ESAA has released a statement detailing the cancellation of this years' Track and Field Championships, with much regret. However this has many repurcussions that are unseen yet solvable. For many, the ESAA Track and Field Championships are the highlight of their year, and in Year 10 and 11 they are given the opportunity to compete for England Schools if they place in the Top 2 in their event.

At Combined Events, it is Top 4, meaning those who do combined events have a higher chance of competing internationallly than those of single events. Cancelling the 90th edition of these championships, which started in 1925, effectively robs many Year 10/11 aged athletes of their first opportunity to compete internationally, and therefore in 2021, since the prices are probably going to be raised due to losses from the hotel cancellation fees, surely the SIAB committee could faciliate an extra age group for the Track and Field International? This is already a thing in Combined Events and Cross Country, where there are both the U15 and U17 age groups, since we currently live in exorbitantly strange circumstances, why should the current U17s be starved of their chance to compete for their country?

That's why I think in 2021, SIAB should be opened to the U19 (Senior) Age group.
