Our petition https://www.change.org/p/enforce-the-law-248-12-no-more-animal-abuse-and-poisonings-in-the-dominican-republic was reopened in a revised version on 06/12/2017. Already during the protests against the poisonings in San Pedro de Macoris we planned a closer cooperation with Dominican animal rights activists for better information and more effectiveness and to render the much needed support from the outside of the country in the battle for the enforcement of Ley 248-12. The best animal welfare law in the whole Caribbean, passed in 2012 but rarely put into practice and broken again and again also by authorities and high-ranking officials. After the latest issues at the hotel complex Grand Bahia Principe in Punta Cana we have realized this plan. Everything that our former petition “No more poisoned and abused dogs and cats at hotels, beaches and in communities of the Caribbean!” has protested against during the past 4 years were always also offences against Ley 248-12 that punishes poisonings with jail from 3 months up to one year or fines of 25 – 50 monthly minimum wages. Our reopened petition supports the petition of Alexandra Morillo Velastegui which demands the enforcement of Ley 248-12 from the government and addresses the same decision-maker as Alexandra’s petition: The president of the Dominican Republic! EVERYBODY who has already signed our petition “No more poisoned and abused dogs and cats at hotels, beaches and in communities of the Caribbean!” and can’t therefore sign (but share and spread!) the reopened petition anymore, please sign the PETITION OF ALEXANDRA MORILLO VELASTEGUI: https://www.change.org/p/cumpla-la-ley-248-12-de-protecci%C3%B3n-contra-el-maltrato-y-tenencia-responsable-de-animales?recruiter=8420764&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=autopublish&utm_term=des-lg-no_src-no_msg
