Enforce the Amber Alert System in Sweden

Enforce the Amber Alert System in Sweden

The Issue

Firstly I will mention that Sweden can be viewed as a very safe and secure country. And sure it can be if you compare it to other countries but as a civilian in Sweden and a very observant individual, I have other opinions.

I have a handful of information and a lot of them have been inspired by the following;

Missing People: A non-profit organisation focusing on having a platform to report missing individuals and creating their own search parties.

Brinn För Barnen: An association that are fighting to make sure that every child has a safe upbringing.

Let's look at some reported statistics from them.

In 2022, Missing People dealt with 542 different reports and different people going missing and around 115036 hours had been spent in endeavoring to find these people and 80% of the people ended up being found alive. When it comes to ages however, the age group that is highest ranking when it comes to missing people emanates from ages 11-15. And that's concerning. And as of 2023 I've been visually perceiving a lot of their posted reports and a lot of them have been children/teenagers. And that's frightening.

And the "Brinn för barnen" association has dealt with many cases where children haven't been had a safe environment to grow up in. The cases mainly involve abusive and violent parents and often in these cases nobody around those children notice anything or at least choose not to. According to B.F.B, every year FIVE children lose their lives due to deadly violence from their parents or carers.

There has additionally been notional theorizations of children being abducted and taken to other countries, however there aren't many reports on it.

Now, what's the Amber Alert System?

"The Child AMBER Alert accommodates as an emergency alert system established to facilitate the recuperation of abducted children. It utilizes the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and sundry partnerships to disseminate information that can avail in locating the child. The system is denominated after Amber Hagerman, a child victim of abduction and murder, from which the AMBER Alert system was inspired."

Despite Sweden not coming proximate to comparing to countries like the US, I believe that inserting Amber Alert System in place is SUPER important regardless. Extra safety and security is necessary for our children, these children's lives and well being are what's on the line here .These children will continue to go missing because that's the horrid truth we live in, Sweden included, but if this system is put in place for extra measures it could end up saving or even simply helping a child. This system has saved so many children world wide. Amber Hagerman never stood a chance because such a system was never in place to begin with.

About 20 countries in Europe have accepted this system, why is Sweden not doing the same? This has actually been a topic brought up on a number of occasions in the Swedish parliament but has always been declined. Why? Why don't people want this system in place for emergencies when a child's life might be on the line? Why are people not wanting to put that extra safety measure there for our precious children? It will bring no harm only good by such a system being in place even if it wasn't being utilized every single day.

I believe this system should be in place EVERYWHERE for extra safety and for our children not to have to face a similar fate to Hagerman. No child should ever go through such horrors.

I believe we have a duty to protect and ensure the safety of our children and that duty especially lies with the highest up. Please sign this petition to show that there people who want to enforce this system.
