Enforce Target's Pet Policy to Protect Service Animals and Uphold Health Standards

The Issue

As a service dog handler, I love my dog not just as my partner, but also a life-saver. Service dog handlers across the nation are facing unnecessary dangers due to non-service pets being allowed in Target stores, a clear violation of the company's policy that states only service animals are permitted. It's not just about safety, but also a matter of public health code compliance; letting non-service animals in stores where food is sold can potentially compromise cleanliness and risk health code violations.

It's disheartening to report that when I discuss this issue with the management, there seems to be a lack of clarity around enforcing Target's pet policy. There is a misconstrued notion that staff could jeopardize their job by asking the vital ADA questions or insisting on the adherence to the pet policy.

We implore Target to uphold its stated policies and to provide its employees with the necessary training. According to the American Disabilities Act (ADA), it is entirely acceptable, and necessary, to ensure the presence of pets in any establishment is justified. We want Target to ensure that every one of its stores knows and properly enforces the ADA laws regarding service animals.

Let's ensure that everyone, especially those with service dogs, can have a safe and comfortable shopping experience. Sign this petition to promote the consistent enforcement of Target's pet policy.
