I am a dog owner, and I know the unconditional loyalty and affection our canine friends bring into our lives. It is heart-wrenching to observe dogs being misused as mere profit machines, forced into breeding without regard to their well-being. I am constantly confronted by the cruel realities of puppy farms and the inhumane treatment of these innocent beings. That's why I am calling for enforced and rigorous regulations for dog breeding in our country.

Unfortunately, irresponsible dog breeding has become a rampant problem in our communities. This uncontrolled breeding results in an increasing number of neglected and unwanted dogs. People are allowed to breed without requisite licenses or checks on their premises, leading to insufferable conditions for these helpless animals.

According to Battersea dogs home, over 20,000 dogs are euthanised a year. This level of animal injustice needs immediate attention. 

We require a systematic change tracing back to the roots of this issue: uncontrolled and unsupervised dog breeding. We demand that potential breeders be properly vetted and licensed, and their breeding facilities subjected to rigorous inspection. A failure to adhere to these strict measures should incur severe consequences, including substantial fines and penal sentences.

These changes can make a significant difference. It has been shown that in Germany, after the introduction of mandatory breeder training and a stricter licensing system, the dog population's overall health improved and the number of unwanted dogs decreased.

Our pets ask for nothing but love and care from us, the least we can do is to ensure that their lives are protected from exploitation caused by greed. Let us put an end to the misery of dogs trapped in a cycle of breeding-for-profit.
